UCL: Ghana defender Denis Odoi unfortunate to have a goal disallowed as Club Brugge lose to Benfica

Ghana international, Denis Odoi was in action for Club Brugge KV on Wednesday night when the team hosted Benfica in the Uefa Champions League.

The experienced defender started for his club today in the first leg of the Round 16 encounter of the elite European competition.

In added time of the first half, Denis Odoi found the back of the Benfica net to give Club Brugge the lead. Unfortunately, the goal would not stand as it was ruled out for offside.

After recess, the Black Stars defender and his teammates played well and put up a good fight but it was not enough.

The visitors scored twice through Joao Mario and David Neres in the 51st and 88th minutes respectively to win the match.

In today’s contest, Dennis Odoi lasted 90 minutes for Club Brugge while his Black Stars compatriot, Kamal Sowah played 79 minutes for the losing team as well.

The Ghanaian duo will hope to help their club to overturn the result in the second leg meeting.
