GES cautions Heads of second cycle institutions to desist from exploiting first year students

The Ghana Education Service has cautioned Heads of Second Cycle institutions to desist from sale of items not prescribed in the approved prospectus for first year students.

They have also warned against the illegal charges of some fees which the GES has not.sanctioned.

“…Management of the Ghana Education Service takes strong exception to this practice, and wishes to state unequivocally that the practice is prohibited and must cease with immediate effect,” a statement from the Service contained.

The statement also added that: “Investigations will soon commence into the issues to ensure that the right things are done in our schools. Heads of Second Cycle Schools are therefore, cautioned to stick to the approved harmonised prospectus for students.”

“Any Head of School caught demanding any item(s) aside the approved ones will
be severely sanctioned,” it further warned.

Meanwhile, parents and guardians have been warmed to purchase items listed on the prospectus from the open market rather than purchasing from Heads of institutions to avoid conflict of interest..
