Current Asante Kotoko players are not ready to learn – Jordan Opoku

Former Asante Kotoko player Jordan Opoku has made some bold claims about the current players at the club.

Opoku believes that the reason the team is not winning games is not down to the coach, but rather the players’ lack of initiative and willingness to learn.

Opoku, who played for Asante Kotoko from 2006 to 2019 on different stints, spoke out after the team’s recent 1-0 defeat to Aduana FC in the FA Cup.

Asante Kotoko is currently third on the league table with 28 points, 7 points behind first-placed Aduana FC.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Opoku said that the players must take responsibility for their performances and not rely solely on the instructions of the technical team.

“The players of Kotoko must show seriousness if they want to achieve anything at Kotoko and not necessarily wait for the coach’s instructions,” he said.

“Yes, the coach will do his work but the job lies with the players. If not, we will always continue to apportion blame on this and that. The current players at Kotoko do not want to learn, if you don’t do that, there’s no way the results will change.”
